Ga East Assembly organises clean-up exercise

The Ga East Municipal Assembly at the weekend organised a clean-up exercise in the Municipality.

The exercise was in line with the directive by the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council to the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies in the region to organise clean-up exercise in their various locations.

Addressing residents after the exercise, John Kwao Sackey, the Municipal Chief Executive, said the municipality will continue the exercise on monthly basis to provide an opportunity for the residents to do regular clean-up exercises.

He said the Dome Market is a major problem in terms of sanitation control, adding “that is why we have based today’s activity at the market area.”

Mr Sackey noted that the exercise would help the municipality, region and the country at large to promote environmental hygiene which would promote good health among the citizenry.

He said mosquitoes breed in stagnant and filthy waters, and government spends a lot of money to treat malaria.

Mr Sackey appealed to residents to keep their surroundings clean which helps to promote personal hygiene and development.
