Funds approved for expansion of Nursing Training Institutions

Accra, April 22, GNA – Government has approved 22 billion cedis from the Highly Indebted Poor Countries Fund (HIPC) fund for the expansion of Nurse’s Training Institutions in the country.

The Community Health Nurse’s Training School at Fomena receives the highest amount of 2.5 billion cedis, while the Korle Bu Nurse’s Training College, Pantang Nurses Training College, Sunyani Nurse’s Training College receive two billion cedis each.

A release from the Ministry of Health on Thursday, signed by S. Owusu Agyei, Chief Director for the Sector Minister, said the Tamale and Ho Nurse’s Training Colleges would receive 1.5 billion cedis each, while the Cape Coast, Jirapa, Bawku and Agogo Nurse’s Training Colleges would get one billion cedis each.

The Sekondi, Koforidua, Berekum, Nkawkaw and Atibie Nurse’s Training Colleges, the Offinso Midwifery Training School and Kintampo Rural Training School would receive 500 million cedis each. The Bolgatanga Midwifery Training School receives 400 millioncedis, while the Navrongo and Esiama Community Health Nurse’s Training Schools receive 300 million cedis each.
