Fulani menace: REGSEC to revive Operation Cow Leg

The Eastern Regional Minister, Eric Kwakye Daffuor, has said the Regional Security Council (REGSEC) has proposed a revival of the Operation Cow Leg agenda to deal with the Fulani menace in the region.

The Operation Cow Leg is a taskforce put together to flush out herdsmen who entered the region illegally with their herds of cattle, destroying farms.

But the exercise was suspended last year.

The Regional Minister, after a REGSEC meeting on Tuesday, October 31 said a proposal has been submitted to revive the exercise, given that the activities of these herdsmen have resurfaced.

“A proposal for addressing the Fulani menace has been submitted to REGSEC by the Kwahuhene. We are also considering what used to be called the Operation Cow Leg. The council is of the opinion that funds will be made available for the Operation Cow Leg to be revived… A lot could be achieved. REGES will propose it to National Security for serious consideration.”
