Fulani man found dead in Lamashiegu

A middle-aged man believed to be a Fulani has been found dead at the Lamashegu roundabout in the Tamale Metropolis on Wednesday.

Deputy Superintended of Police (DSP), Caesar Abanga, Tamale Metropolitan Police Commander, told the media in Tamale that the police suspected a foul play.

He said: “The police suspect that the man was lynched by unknown assailants around 0500 hours as his body had multiple wounds when it was discovered.”

He explained that the body of the deceased has been deposited at the Tamale Teaching Hospital morgue.

He explained that at about 0830 hours on Wednesday July 4, a report was made to the police about the alleged crime and that upon reaching the scene, many residents had gathered watching the lifeless body.

DSP Abanga indicated that some eye witness’ account suggested that the deceased allegedly stole a motor bike and when he was caught by the unknown persons, he was attacked resulting in his death.

“We would make radio announcement so that family members could come forward for the body while investigations will continue to unravel the cause of his death,” he said.**
