Fulani herdsmen invade Mafi Aflavenu area

Ho, Oct. 14, GNA – The Mafi Aflavenu and Dorfor Avedote areas in the Volta Region have been invaded by Fulani herdsmen. Addressing a news conference at Ho, Mr Emmanuel Bokor, a Spokesman for the Bokor and allied families of Mafi Aflavenu and the Ademu family of Dorfor Avedote who hold allodial title to the land, said the herdsmen entered the land without permission and had failed to honour invitations by the landlords.

He said the herdsmen who were armed to the teeth, moved their cattle day and night and in the process destroyed farms while the herdsmen even stole food crops and any attempt to hold them responsible was always resisted.

Mr Bokor said effects of the activities of the herdsmen were not only for economic hardships, but a threat to “our women and young girls as they become victims of human rights abuses such as rape and beatings.”
