Fulani herdsmen advised to be law abiding

Mr. Victor Smith, the Eastern Regional Minister, has cautioned Fulani herdsmen to be law abiding and to contribute positively towards the development of the country rather than foment trouble.

He said Ghanaians were peace loving people and warned Fulani herdsmen who would want to cause mayhem to change their attitude since they would be dealt with accordingly if they disobey the laws of the country.

Mr. Smith was speaking at Sampoa in the Kwahu East District when he inaugurated a two classroom block with toilet facilities and offices for the area. Sampoa and 14 other communities in the district have also been connected to the national grid.

He assured them that the government was committed to solving the Fulani menace and putting measures in place to ensure that they will have peace.

Mr. Smith also reiterated government’s commitment in ensuring equitable development of all areas.

He appealed to the people to renew the mandate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government in the December polls.

Mr. Smith later inspected construction works on a dormitory block at the St Peters Senior High School at Nkwatia.

He also inspected four GETFUND projects, which included 200 bed capacity boys and 150 bed capacity girls’ dormitory, mechanized borehole, and eight flats for teachers and their families.

Mr. Smith also met District Heads of Department where he urged them to work very hard and support government’s project irrespective of their party affiliations.**
