Friend of Osagyefo Nkrumah confirms Nathan Nkrumah as son

The widow of Alhaji Abubakar Nartey, a confidant of the First President, Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah on Monday affirmed that Dr Onsy Nathan Kwame Nkrumah is a true son of the former Head of State.

To back her claim, Madam Amina Iddrisu, 70, sent her daughter Adisa Alhaji Nartey and one Abubakar Salu to travel from Tamale to the residence of Dr Nathan Kwame Nkrumah in Accra, to add credibility to his assertion that he is the son of the late President.

Ms Adisa Nartey told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that, her mother got the story when her husband narrated it after he was released from detention after the 1966 coup that overthrew Nkrumah’s regime.

“My late husband told me that Kwame had a son in Egypt born to an Egyptian lady,” she stressed.

“My mother said her late husband was so close to Osagyefo that after the coup, he was the first to be picked at their Sabu Zongo home in Kumasi.

To confirm how close Alhaji Nartey was to Osagyefo Dr Nkrumah, Ms Adisa Nartey presented a more than 50 years group picture, which included Dr Nkrumah, her late daddy, Kojo Botsio, Ohene Djan and other leading members of the Convention People’s Party to Dr Nathan Nkrumah.

Meanwhile a relative of Mrs Suad Sinare, whose husband was reported to have masterminded the marriage between Dr Nkrumah and the late Fathia Nkrumah in Egypt, told the GNA on condition of anonymity that the fact that Dr Nathan Kwame Nkrumah is the son of the late President is not in dispute.

Dr Nathan Kwame Nkrumah also told the GNA that he was very pleased that one of the friends of Osagyefo had confirmed his claim to be the biological son of the former Head of State with evidence.**
