Fresh clashes in Bolga; one shot

At least one person has been shot while several houses have been burnt in a renewed chieftaincy clashes in Bolgatanga in the Upper East region.

Sporadic shooting is currently ongoing in the town as military and Police officers have reportedly been dispatched to install order.

An eyewitness Joseph Ayanga told StarrFMonline.com Saturday night that the fight started when supporters of the two rival chiefs clashed in town.

He said a member of the delegation of one of the chiefs was shot in the leg sparking the violent exchanges.

“As i speak, they are still shooting and burning the houses. We don’t know exactly what started the fight but i saw that one of the guys was shot by supporters of a rival chief in the leg and he was bleeding all over the place,” Ayanga narrated.

Officials of the military and the Police have currently taken control of the town.
