French Senators to visit Ghana

Accra, Nov. 2, GNA -Four French Senators would on Saturday begin

a six-day official visit to Ghana as part of efforts to strengthen ties between the French Senate and Parliament in Ghana.

The delegation led by Mr Jacques Legendre, President of the French Senate Group for West Africa would have audience with the Vice President

Alhaji Aliu Mahama, spend a day with Parliament and meet the Speaker and Parliamentary leaders.

A statement issued in Accra and signed by Mr James Dickson of the French embassy said other members in the delegation are Mr Yann Gaillard, Mr Gerard Roujas and Ms Valerie Letard would also visit other institutions, businesses and the French community in the country.

The statement said the delegation encounters would include visit to the Council of State and the Commission for Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), call on Western Regional Minister and meet the Shama Ahanta East metropolitan Assembly and trips to Ghana Rubber Estate Limited plantations in Takoradi and Tema harbour. The statement said the French Senate is the upper house of the French Parliament which in conjunction with the lower house shares legislative power in France.
