French Public Sector Minister arrives

Accra, July 17, GNA – Mr Christian Jacob, the French Minister of Public Service, arrived in Accra on Monday to sign a cooperation agreement between the Ghanaian and French governments and hold talks with President John Agyekum Kufuor.

A statement issued in Accra by the Ministry of Public Sector Reform said the first agreement was the Cooperation Protocol for Support to the Public Sector Reform in Ghana and Provisions for Cooperation between the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration and two renowned French institutes of public administration.

The other is a funding agreement for Support to Decentralization and Local Governance Interventions aimed at strengthening the process of decentralization in Ghana in order to better engage local government authority and economic development.

The statement said the visit was a reciprocal one to one by Dr Paa Kwesi Nduom, Minister of Public Sector Reform, in 2005. The French Minister would also visit Elmina, interact with Government officials and traditional authorities and visit tourist sites of world cultural heritage.
