French Naval Vessel arrives at Tema port

Tema, Jan 20, GNA – A French Naval ship “Ouragan” on Wednesday docked at the Tema main harbour to begin a five-day good will visit to the country.

Capt Olivier Pons, the Commander of the ship, told the Ghana News Agency that the vessel is on its regular mission along the coast of West Africa.

”The visit is to strengthen the already cordial relations between the two countries and particularly to reinforce the ties between the French and Ghanaian navies.”

Capt Pons said the 230 crew members, including 17 officers, would play games with their Ghanaian counterparts and will offer free medical care to the people of Dawhenya in the Dangme West District of the Greater Accra Region.

He later paid a courtesy call on Mr Samuel Evans Ashong Narh, the Tema Municipal Chief Executive, who briefed him on the work of the assembly and the history of the harbour city.
