French national fined for over-speeding

Cape Coast, Apr. 21, GNA- A circuit court at Cape Coast presided over by Mr Beresford Acquah on Thursday, sentenced Menard Florent, a French national, to a fine of 200,000 cedis, for over-speeding.

Florent, who pleaded guilty, will go to jail for two weeks in default of payment of the fine.

Chief Inspector Oheneba Amoako-Boateng told the court, that Florent was arrested early on Thursday, by personnel of the Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) of the Ghana Police Service, while on operation at Ayensudo, on the Cape Coast-Takoradi highway. He said Florent was found to be driving at 67 kilometres per hour (kph) instead of the approved speed of 50 kph.
