French Air Force team calls on Defence Minister

Accra, Feb. 1, GNA – A five-man French Air Force Audit team has arrived in Ghana to audit the Ghana Air Force on infrastructure, equipment and training, so as to determine areas in which the French Government could assist the Ghana Air Force.

A statement issued by the Ghana Armed Forces in Accra on Wednesday said the team paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Defence Dr Kwame Addo-Kufuor.

It said Dr Addo-Kufuor told the team led by Lieutenant Colonel Herre Bissieres that although there had been no military cooperation between the Ghana Air Force and French Air Force, the Ghana Armed Forces had benefited from courses at the French Staff College and visits by French Navy ships.

He said the areas to be considered in the audit were the rehabilitation of the Flying Training School, upgrading of the Avionics and Photo Sections, training of pilots, air traffic controllers, flying instructors and engineers and repair of the runway, taxiway and hangers.
