Free SHS will promote social justice for all – Kufuor

Former President John Agyekum Kufuor says the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) free Senior High School (SHS) education promise is the sure way to bring social justice and equality of opportunity to Ghanaians.

President Kufuor was speaking at a prayer conference organized by the party on the theme: “Jericho Must Fall” in the Ashanti Regional capital, Kumasi on Sunday.

The former president, who was given a rousing welcome by the teeming NPP supporters said, the party is one that loves peace and will do well to ensure that the upcoming election is violence-free and fair.

He said for any country to achieve absolute peace, there is a need to ensure social justice and equality of opportunity for all Ghanaians through education.

According to former President Kufuor, Ghana is respected for being a God-fearing nation that loves peace but he warned that Ghanaians cannot be taken for granted just because they love peace.

He averred that Ghanaians are interested in peace not borne out of intimidation but of justice for all irrespective of their political coloring.

He slammed the Asomdwehene tag conferred on the late President Mills saying the country needs God’s peace and not a human-orchestrated peace.

He therefore stressed that the King of peace is Jesus Christ alone and not any man.

He charged Ghanaians to support Nana Akufo-Addo’s free education policy to ensure that every junior high school leaver can have access to free quality education.
