The Controlled Food Suppliers Association (CFSA) will hold a five-day demonstration at the Ghana Commodity Exchange (GCX) in Accra over unpaid bills for food supplied to the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) programme in 2024.
The protest is scheduled for 16 to 20 November 2026, with the association calling on the GCX to pay the sums it says are owed to its members for deliveries made under the programme.
In a formal notice to the Exchange’s management, the CFSA said several attempts to obtain payment had produced no resolution. The delays, it said, had left suppliers increasingly frustrated.
The association had issued the GCX with a two-week ultimatum on 7 October 2026, demanding that the outstanding amounts be settled. That deadline passed on 21 October without an agreement being reached.
The notice was signed by the CFSA’s Administrative Secretary, Cornelius Korku Logo. It said the decision to demonstrate followed the GCX’s failure to provide what the association considered an adequate response, despite repeated follow-ups.
“The leadership of the Association has at all times acted in utmost good faith in demanding monies legitimately owed to its members,” the notice stated.
The CFSA said the continued failure to pay, despite its efforts and the expiry of the two-week deadline, had left it with no option but to proceed with the planned action.
It said the demonstration was designed to put further pressure on the relevant authorities to resolve the dispute and clear the debts owed to the food suppliers.
