Free SHS logo unnecessary – Nortsu-Kotoe

The Ranking Member of Parliamentary Committee on Education, who is also Member of Parliament for Akasti North, Peter Nortsu-Kotoe, has described the logo created for the government’s Free Senior High School programme as unnecessary.

According to him, the programme which falls under the Education Ministry does not require such special logo as though it is an agency.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, assisted by Vice President Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, on Thursday unveiled the logo to give boost to the process of implementing the free SHS beginning this academic year.

The logo highlights an opened book, on which is suspended a sketch of two delighted school children leaping in jubilation. Underneath the symbol, three words, Access, Equity and Equality, are boldly inscribed.

But Mr Nortsu-Kotoe, speaking to Class News said the creation of the special logo is needless.

“We don’t see the need for any logo for a programme which is under the Ministry of Education. It’s not an agency that needs a logo to operate with, so there is no need for a logo to take care of the free SHS programme,” he stated.
