About 600 residents of Akatsi North District have received free screening and treatment from a medical team from USA on a five-day tour of the area.
The 12-member team from Temple University- Philadelphia, includes five doctors and seven students, did consultations at Avevi, Agormor and Dakpa.
Dr Morgan Oakland, Leader of the team told Ghana News Agency that malaria, skin and worm infections, diarrhoea, diabetes, heart problems and high blood pressure were the main ailments diagnosed and treated by the team.
Mr. James Gunu, District Chief Executive (DCE), who interacted with the team before their departure, expressed gratitude to them for bringing health care closer and freely to the people.
The DCE appealed to the team to make their visits biannual and enlarge the team.
Mr. Gunu said the visit was crucial in the area because it has only one clinic and a few CHPS Compounds and no medical doctor.
Disaster Volunteers Organisation of Ghana, a non-governmental organization facilitated the visit, the second in a row, with the cost of travel, equipment and drugs born by the doctors.
