Free education is imperative- Prof. Agyeman

An educationist says doubts over the possibility of education ever being free are only conceived on a misunderstanding of the concept of free education.

Professor D.K Agyeman who is at the University of Education in Winneba says free education absolves the Ghanaian parent from what he described as a double taxation in financing education.

Professor Agyeman was reacting to a claim by the General Overseer of the International Central Gospel Church, Pastor Mensah Otabil who is reported to have stated that education can never be free.

Professor Agyeman says free education should be seen from the context of the parent.

“Free education means making education open to people who ordinarily couldn’t afford and it is free in the sense that they don’t have to pay double taxation to enter the schools”.
