Freddie Blay declines CID invitation

The first vice National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party Freddie Blay has declined an invitation by the Police Criminal Investigations Department (CID) over allegations of diverting party funds.

Mr. Blay and the party’s Treasurer Abankwah Yeboah are being investigated by the Police CID for diverting party funds.

In a letter addressed to NPP Party Chairman Paul Afoko and sighted by Starr News, the two party executives are said to have acted contrary to laid down financial procedures of the party.

The two were to be questioned by the police on the matter.

But speaking in an interview with Starr News Mr. Blay said he declined the invitation by the Police CID because the issue is a party matter which must be dealt with internally.

“Two officers led by one superintendent Baah were here to invite me in relation to this matter… so I said if that is what you have come and talk about or invite me for then I decline your invitation.

“I didn’t go but unless of course they want to arrest me for whatever they think I have done then I have no choice,” Mr. Blay told Kweku Obeng Adjei in an interview.

Mr. Blay added that the Police CID, however, failed to disclose who lodged the complaint but strongly suspects one Baah Acheamfuor, a close aide to Afoko and party General Secretary Kwabena Agyepong reported the issue to the Police CID.
