Fred Oware, Senior Advisor to the New Patriotic Party’s 2024 flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has rubbished claims by Dr Bryan Acheampong that he financed delegates in the Eastern Region on behalf of the former Vice President during the party’s 2023 presidential primaries.
In an interview on Kumasi-based Pure FM on Wednesday, August 27, Oware described the allegation as baseless and an attempt to cast doubt on Dr Bawumia’s victory.
“It is simply not true that Bryan Acheampong paid delegates from the Eastern Region for Dr Bawumia. His success came from his message, his record, and the confidence delegates had in his leadership,” he said.
He stressed that the party’s internal election was transparent and fair, insisting that suggestions of vote-buying insult both the process and the delegates who participated. “Our delegates are discerning; they voted out of conviction, not because anyone gave them money,” Oware added.
Calling for unity ahead of the 2028 general elections, Oware urged party members to ignore divisive claims and rally behind Bawumia. “We must not allow baseless allegations to derail our collective efforts. Dr Bawumia is committed to leading the NPP to victory with honesty, humility, and dedication,” he said.
