Takoradi, Jan. 24, GNA- A Circuit Court at Takoradi on Monday, granted 150 million cedis bail to Justice Prince Duodu, a 42-year-old trader, accused of fraud. He pleaded not guilty and will re-appear before the court on January 24.
Police Inspector G. Agbemavah, told the court presided over by Mr. George K. Koomson that in August last year, the accused allegedly promised to help some people to travel to UK, if they could pay 50 million cedis each for their visas and other travel expenses. They were Emmanuel Amanfo and Benjamin Nkrumah, all Pastors of the Apostles Continuation Church at Bonyere, Tikobo and Mr Samuel Danful alias Joe, a trader.
Inspector Agbemavah said both Amanfo and Nkrumah paid 30 million cedis each and Danful paid 20 million cedis to Duodu. He also told the court that in September last year, the accused collected 10 million cedis and eight million cedis respectively from the pastors and disappeared.
Inspector Agbemavah said Duodu later asked the complainants to meet him at a spot at Abeka Lapaz in Accra. The prosecutor said it was during a discussion between the accused and the complainants at the spot, when personnel of the Criminal Investigations Division of the Ghana Police Service arrested the accused.
