Germany-Ghana midfielder Frank Ronstadt has left 1. FC Kaiserslautern and is now without a club, ending his latest spell with the 2. Bundesliga side.
The 29-year-old right midfielder returned to Kaiserslautern on 30 June 2026 after a loan spell with FC Viktoria Koln, but has now departed the club. Ronstadt joined Viktoria Koln from Kaiserslautern on loan on 1 September 2025 and spent the 2025-26 season with the third-tier side.
During that spell, Viktoria Koln won the Middle Rhine Cup, adding a domestic cup honour to Ronstadt’s career. The Hamburg-born player had previously been part of the Kaiserslautern squad that finished as German Cup runners-up in the 2023-24 season.
Ronstadt originally joined Kaiserslautern from Darmstadt 98 on 2 January 2024 for a fee of €50,000. Before that move, he had spent time with Darmstadt after joining them from Wurzburger Kickers in July 2021 on a free transfer.
His period at Darmstadt followed a season with Wurzburger Kickers in which the club was relegated from the second tier. Ronstadt began his senior career at Werder Bremen II, having progressed through the youth system at Hamburg.
A right-footed player standing 1.79m tall, Ronstadt has primarily operated on the right side of midfield. He was born in Hamburg and holds German and Ghanaian nationality.
His career also includes promotion to Germany’s top flight with Darmstadt in the 2022-23 season. That achievement came before his move to Kaiserslautern, where he later featured in a side that reached the German Cup final in 2023-24.
Ronstadt’s departure leaves him available for a new club after spells across Germany’s professional divisions. His latest recorded club was Kaiserslautern, following his return from Viktoria Koln at the end of the loan arrangement.
The move away from Kaiserslautern was completed on 1 September 2026, with Ronstadt registering as without a club.
