France to relocate Embassy in Accra

The French Embassy in Ghana is set to be relocated from its current location, where it shares the premises with the Flagstaff House, the seat of government.
The moved French embassy will be situated next to the current residence of the French ambassador to Ghana in Cantonments.

Excited by the news, President Akufo-Addo expressed the government’s deep satisfaction at France’s decision to resettle their embassy.

He assured that the relocation exercise will be achieved without political difficulties.

He was speaking at an event to commission the construction of the new French embassy.

On his part, the French ambassador to Ghana, Pujolas Francois Pujolas assured that the new edifice will be completed within 18 months.

According to him, the building of the French embassy in Ghana is a “symbol” of the confidence France has in Ghana.

Describing the commissioning of the event as “special”, Mr. Pujolas stressed that some key elements of the project “symbolizes the partnership between our countries” despite cultural differences.

Over the years security concerns were raised regarding the location of the presidential palace extremely close to the French embassy in Ghana, with some saying the French intelligence satellite could interfere with that of government.
