Fourth Republic Celebrations Was Partisan -NDC

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) minority in Parliament says it does not recognize the People’s Assembly held to commemorate the 9th Anniversary of the Fourth Republic.

Minority Leader, Alban Bagbin says the absence of NDC party officials and Parliamentarians who represent over 40 per cent of Ghanaians, is a clear indication of the partisan nature of what was supposed to be a national event.

According to Mr. Bagbin, his office received no invitation to participate in the celebrations but only received an invitation to a cocktail reception on Monday evening, which he will not honour. He questioned the essence of attending a cocktail, which crowns an event to which he was not invited. In Mr. Bagbin’s view, the celebrations are for the first anniversary of the NPP in government and not the ninth anniversary of the Fourth Republic. The National Planning Committee of the celebrations however told JOYFM that they invited members of the NDC to all the functions.
