Four women remanded in police custody

Sunyani June 30, GNA – A District Magistrate Court at Sunyani has remanded four women, all resident at Area two in Sunyani into prison custody for allegedly misbehaving. The suspects, Ama Serwaa, 36, unemployed, Agnes Serwaa, 18, an apprentice hairdresser, Adwoa Acheamponaa, 28, hairdresser and Millicent Fordjour, 34, trader, were charged for offensive conduct that could have resulted in the breach of peace. They all pleaded not guilty to the charges and would re-appear on Thursday, July 3. Police Inspector Setina Aboagye told the court presided over by Mr Charles Adjei Wilson the accused persons, without any provocation started insulted the complainants in the case, Adwoa Hannah, 30, a hairdresser and her friend Theresa Dwiraa, 37, who were conversing at Dwiraa’s saloon. Inspector Aboagye said the suspects insulted Hannah that she was a HIV/AIDS patient and a witch and that Dwira was foolish and a witch. She said the complainants reported the matter to the Women and Juvenile Unit (WAJU) of the Police Service in Sunyani. Insp Aboagye said the suspects were invited by WAJU and after investigations they were charged with the offence.
