Four to contest for Brong-Ahafo’s Council of State slot

Four people are expected to contest the Brong-Ahafo Regional Representative to the Council of State on Wednesday, February 6 in Sunyani.

This was disclosed to the Ghana News Agency in Sunyani on Tuesday by sources at the Brong-Ahafo Regional Directorate of the Electoral Commission (EC).

It said the expected contestants are, Nana Saa Gyamfuaa II, 43, a businesswoman and queen mother of Anyimah in the Kintampo South District, Mr Joseph Henry Owusu-Acheampong, 71, an economist and the Region’s representative on the Council of State from 2009-2013.

The rest are Mr Daniel Kwaku Dartey 50, tutor at Chiraa Senior High School in the Sunyani West District, Mr Raphael Cubagee 40, a farmer and Mr Evans Ofori Mensah 21, unemployed.

A sixth contestant Pemampem Yaw Kagbrese V, 62, Paramount Chief of Yeji Traditional Area withdrew his candidature.

Representatives from the Municipal and District Assemblies in the Region will form the Electoral College.
