Four teenagers in custody for alleged gang rape

Cape Coast, April 11, Four teenagers were on Wednesday remanded by a circuit court in Cape Coast for allegedly gang-raping a 16-year-old JSS student at Komenda-Besaise.

The plea of Ameyaw Ekumfi 18, Isaac Cudjoe, 17 and two others aged 16 and 15 was not taken and they would reappear on Wednesday April 18.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Hope Azasoo, told the court presided over by Mr Richard Asiedu-Badu, that the victim lived with her parents at Komenda-Kissi, whiles the accused persons lived at Komenda-Besaise.

Chief Inspector Azasoo said on April 2 at about 13.30 hours the victim visited Cudoje’s wife, who was her friend.

He said the victim did not meet her friend and so she asked Cudjoe and the other three accused persons who were around about her friend’s whereabouts. They told her she was not in.

The prosecutor said when the victim was about to leave the accused persons suddenly grabbed, tied her up and sexually abused her in turns. He said afterwards, the victim reported the matter to her parents who in turn reported it to the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DVVSU) and they were arrested.
