Four suspected armed robbers arrested in Kumasi

Kumasi, Nov. 4, GNA – The Ashanti Regional police command has arrested four suspected armed robbers in the Kumasi metropolis.

They are Kwame Oppong, a 26-year-old second-hand clothes dealer Kwasi Adjei, 21-year-old driver, Kwame Boateng, 24 also a driver and Ibrahim Kwame, 21-year-old unemployed.

Briefing the media in Kumasi on Friday Assistant Commissioner of Police Frank Adu Poku, the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, said the suspects were arrested in separate operations in the metropolis. The suspected robbers were involved in car snatching, mobile phone snatching and rape at Amakom, Suntreso, Emina and Bompata. The police retrieved sound systems, video desks, DVD players, clothing, cutlasses and guns from the suspects.

He said some victims had been able to identify some of the suspects in a recent identification parade mounted by the police in Kumasi. The Regional Commander said some of the suspects had already appeared before court while others were still under investigation and they would soon be put before court.

He commended residents in the Kumasi metropolis for their continued support to the police that had resulted in the arrest of the suspects and said the police would continue to count on their support.
