Four remanded for possessing examination questions

Accra, Nov. 3, GNA – Four students on Monday appeared before an Accra Circuit Court for illegally possessing this year’s October-November examination question papers of the West Africa Examination Council (WAEC).

They are Ernest Oduro, Agyemang J. Tenkonrang, Ofori Gyimah Alex and Rosemary Owusu Boadiwa.

The four, whose pleas were not taken, have been charged for illegal possession of WAEC examination question papers. Mr Emmanuel Ankamah sitting at the court remanded them into Police custody to reappear on November 7.

Police Inspector Bennett Sarfo told the Court that the complainants were officials of the WAEC in Accra while the accused persons were students, who took part in the 2003 Senior Secondary Certificate Examination conducted by the Council.

On October 29, this year, the Police had information that someone had e-mail on some chemistry and social studies examination question papers from Takoradi to some candidates in Accra through an Internet caf=E9 in Accra.

While the Police were investigating to trace the source, accused persons were arrested at the their examination centres with copies of Chemistry and Social studies question papers which were suspected to have been stolen and circulated to some candidates on October 31, this year.

Prosecution said during interrogation they could not disclose their source of supply.
