Kumasi (Ashanti Region) 8 Jan. ’99

Four workers of the Circuit Court at Juaso-Ashanti have been placed in police custody in connection with a fire outbreak at the court premises on New Year’s day. The names of the suspects have been withheld for security reasons. Police Inspector Augustine Arthur of the Ashanti Regional Police Public Relations Directorate, who disclosed this, said at about 7.30 p.m. on new year’s day, fire was seen at the top floor of a house which housed the circuit court. He said the entire court room and the registrar’s office were burnt and some documents and a typewriter destroyed. The four workers, suspected to be involved, were arrested and placed in custody pending investigations.
