Four held over robbery attack

Four gun-carrying criminals who allegedly attacked and robbed a Teaching Assistant at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and one other student of their laptop computers and cash have been arrested.

One of them, Adbul Sadick Dery, has already been identified by his victims.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Kwaku Osei Ampofo-Duku, the Deputy Ashanti Regional Commander, gave the names of the other suspects as Abdul Rashid, Mohammed Ridwann and Peter Pebilla.

He told a media briefing in Kumasi that the crime was committed on June 20, at about 2030 hours.

The gang had on that same day raided a hotel, “Paradise Lodge” at Ayeduase and robbed an employee and guests of their cash and mobile phones.

ACP Ampofo-Duku said their arrest followed a tip off and this came barely 24 hours after the separate robbery attacks.

He encouraged the formation of neighbourhood watch committees to support the crime fight.
