Four Ghanaians arrested at Ivory Coast border

Reports say the Western Regional Police Command has arrested four residents of Elubo for attempting to transport some stranded travelers to Ivory Coast through unapproved routes.

The four, according to the police, were arrested when they attempted to escape with the fares of the travelers.

The Director of Health at the border, Jumah Ansah, speaking on an Accra based radio station said security patrols have since been intensified.

‘’The Police arrested some people who were crossing the border through unapproved routes with travelers. They sneak the travelers through these routes and cross the river Tano. But these people collected the monies from travelers and wanted to run away’’, he revealed.

The Ivorian side of the border has been closed for the past three weeks after attacks on an Ivorian army checkpoint in a community called Noe.
