Four donate towards Jomoro Farmers’ Day

Four individuals and institutions in the Western Region, have donated cash and various items towards this year’s Jomoro District Farmers’ Day Celebration slated for Friday, December 4.

They are the Member of Parliament (MP) for Jomoro, Wing Commander Francis Kabenlah Anaman (retired), the Jomoro and Ahantaman Rural Banks, and theJomoro Assi Co-operative Credit Union (JACCU).

The District Agriculture Director, Mr Kenneth Addai Boadu, disclosed this to the GNA in an interview on Tuesday at Half-Assini.

He said the MP donated one stunner motorbike, 20 knapsack spraying machines, and 50 bags of cement.

Mr Boadu said the Jomoro Rural Bank donated one box of crocodile machetes, while the Ahantaman Rural Bank presented 15 pieces of crocodile matchets.

Mr Boadu said JACCU donated One Hundred Ghana Cedis (Ghc100.00).

He said the donation was in response to an appeal by the Jomoro District.

He said many organizations, corporate bodies and individuals in and outside the district were written to by the Assembly for assistance towards the Farmer’s Day.

According to him only the aforementioned bodies have so far responded and therefore expressed his gratitude to them.

The District Agriculture Director hoped that others would respond to the appeal, and honour its hard working farmers and fishermen for their contributions to the national economy.

He indicated that the District’s Farmer’s Day would take place at Azuleti near Mpataba.

The first Friday of every year has been set aside as the National Farmers’ Day, to award the gallant farmers and fishermen.

This year’s National Farmers’ Day is under the theme: “Transform Ghana: Invest in Agriculture”.
