The four people arrested from the residence of the last commander of the erstwhile 64 infantry regiment have denied hurling stones into the yard of the Electoral commission.
The four were arrested from Lt. Col. Larry Gbevlo Lartey?s residence after the police received a distress call from security men at the Electoral commission that some people were hurling stones into the yard at the wee hours of Wednesday.
A joint police and military patrol team were later called in to assist and according to Police PRO David Eklu, the team traced the stone to the residence of the former commander?s residence where one person was found holding stones.
He together with four others who according to the Police were lying on top of a roof in the house were arrested.
The four who were charged with offensive conduct have been released on Police enquiry bill. But one of them says the allegation against them is untrue.
Mr. Caesar Adai Konokye, an in-law of Lt. Col. Gbevlo Lartey and an employee of Ghana Telecom told JOY FM?s Super Morning Show host that they were unsure of the motive of the Police.
Mr. Konokye who is said to be holding the stones when the Police arrived said on the programme that he was manhandled before been taken to the Adabraka Police station where they were detained.
?The charge is a blatant lie. I was just cooling off out side the house as I do every evening. I did not throw stones? he said.
Mr. Konokye condemned the Police attack on him
?Has it come to that, that when you are in your house the Police can just come in and attack you? It is outrageous?, he said.
