Four armed Togolese Security men detained

Wli (V/R), April 27 – The Hohoe Police have detained four armed Togolese Security men, who claimed they were fleeing from rampaging youth protesting against the declaration of Faure Gnassingbe as the winner of Sunday Presidential Elections.

The three Policemen and a Customs Officer said the youth from Yikpa-Dafor in the Republic of Togo attacked them following the death of a Togolese soldier, Chef Tcholenanou at Adeta, some 21 kilometres from their duty post.

They are Police Brigadier Ibrahim Oumozor; Sub-Brigadier Kabretchouka Taseba and Sub-Brigadier Tchapo Djawe and Tchamou Kpatchati, the Customs Officer.

They said the youth group had erected burning barricades on some sections of the highway to avenge the death of their compatriot. The security men said, even though, they had enough ammunition, to rebuff any attack, they thought it was not a worthwhile venture and, therefore, crossed into Wli in Ghana through the forest to avoid a possible bloodbath.

Mr Victor Aduse-Poku, Hohoe Divisional Police Commander, told the matter.
