Abuakwa (Ash), Jan 5, GNA – The last four Area Councils in the Atwima-Nwabiagya district of Ashanti have been inaugurated. They are the Akropong, Nkawie-Toase, Afari and Abuakwa. Mr Thomas Ofori-Donkor, the District Chief Executive, who performed the ceremonies at separate meetings, reiterated the immense role of area councils in local governance.

Mr Ofori-Donkor appealed to the councilors to redouble their efforts in revenue generation to execute development projects and assured them of the assembly’s support.

Mr Benito Owusu-Bio, the Member of Parliament for the area, urged traditional rulers to support the councils to enable them to perform effectively.
