Foundation donates to traders, fishermen and children

Beposo (W/R), Feb. 23, GNA – Mother and Child Foundation, an NGO on Tuesday presented five double bed mattresses to market women at Beposo. Mrs Angelina Baiden-Amissah, Member of Parliament for Shama and Deputy Minister of Education and Sports designate made the presentation on behalf of the Foundation to the leadership of the Beposo Market Women Association at Beposo.

She also presented one bale of used clothing to fishermen and a quantity of pen and pencils to schoolchildren in the area on behalf of the Foundation.

In a speech, Mrs Baiden-Amissah thanked the Foundation of which the First Lady, Mrs Theresa Kufuor is a Patron, for assisting the market women, fishermen and schoolchildren.

She noted that many traders who came to the Beposo market on the eve of market days had to spread their cloth on the floor and sleep on it. Mrs Baiden-Amissah said this was not healthy to the women who had to travel long distances to Beposo to trade on market days. She said it was because of this that the Foundation thought it wise to donate mattresses to the Market Women Association.
