Forty prostitutes and drug peddlers arrested

Accra April 7, GNA – The Police has arrested 31 prostitutes and nine drug peddlers in two separate operations in the Accra Metropolis. The prostitutes aged between 20 years and 30 years were rounded up on Wednesday and Thursday at various spots at the Cantonments including spots near the Post Office; Danquah Circle and the Togo Embassy. The drug peddlers were also arrested at La and its surroundings with quantities of drugs including Indian hemp and cocaine.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mr Nyamekye Adane-Ameyaw, La District Police Commander, who is vested with oversight responsibility for the Cantonment District, confirmed this to the GNA in an interview. ASP Dane-Ameyaw indicated that the Police would continue to mount such operations in order to maintain law and order in the Metropolis. He said the suspects would be put before court after screening and investigations.
