Forty-Five persons complete STEP training

Tarkwa (W/R) July 23, GNA- Mr Joe Donkor, Deputy Minister of Employment and Manpower, has announced that the government was to establish a five billion cedis loan facility for those trained in vocational institutions.

This was contained in a speech read for him at the passing out of 45 persons who completed various courses under the Government’s Skills Training and Employment Placement Programme (STEP) at the Women Training Institute (WVI) at Tarkwa on Wednesday.

Mr Donkor said the facility is to assist those trained in vocational institutions to set up their own businesses and urged those who had completed training to take advantage of the facility.

Miss Edith Ghunney, headmistress of the Institute said the trainees underwent three months training in batik, tie and dye and soap making. She commended them for taking the lessons seriously and advised them to use the skills they have acquired to earn a living and assist in the development of the country. 23 July 04
