Former Yendi MCE wins parliamentary primary

Yendi, (NR) May 1, GNA – Out of the 321 votes cast in the New

Patriotic Party’s Yendi Parliamentary Primary, on Saturday, the area’s former

Yendi Municipal Chief Executive, Alhaji Mohammed Habib Tijani took 199

votes to win the contest. His contenders are Dr. Abdul-Majeed Haroun, who polled 89 votes,

Hajia Samata Gifty Bukari, polled 24 votes and Abdul-Hussein Ishaq who

got eight votes. There was one spoilt ballot. In all 328 delegates were supposed to vote but 321 were voted. The election was conducted by the Electoral Commission and supervised

by the Yendi Municipal Electoral Officer, Mr John Mensah. The Yendi Constituency Chairman, Alhaji Inusah Amadu, advised the

other contestants to rally behind the winner in unity for them to win the

Yendi seat in the 2012 general election.
