Former Suhum DCE buried

Suhum (E/R), Dec. 22, GNA – A former National Democratic Congress (NDC) District Chief Executive (DCE), for Suhum Kraboa Coaltar District, Mr Raphael Seth- Biam, was buried at the weekend.

Mr Seth-Biam, 57, who died about a month ago, after a short illness, was buried at the Suhum public cemetery.

The burial was attended by a large number of people including party functionaries, sympathizers, DCEs, ministers of state, and some members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Mr Antwi Bosiako-Sekyere, Deputy Minister for Employment and Social Welfare, who represented both the Government and the NDC described the late Seth-Biam as one of the founding members of the NDC in the District.

He said due to the hard work and dedication of Mr Seth Biam to the party, the NDC was able to capture the Suhum and Ayensuano constituency seat for the NDC on two occasions.

Mr Seth Biam, a former employee of the Information Services Department, was the first DCE to be appointed by the Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC) government and through his efforts many towns and villages were connected to the national grid.

Mr Bosiako-Sekyere said through the good works of late Seth-Biam, a number of Non-Government Organization (NGO) undertook many developmental projects including schools, roads, clinics and water in the district.

He said the late Seth- Biam contributed towards the reactivation of the Suhum Women Vocational Training Institute and the establishment of the Suhum Presbyterian Senior High School adding that the death of Seth- Biam was a big lost to the party.
