Former SRC Vice President’s final results withheld

Accra, Nov 11, GNA- The Public Affairs Directorate of University of Ghana, Legon, has decided to withhold for three years, the final examination results of Mr George Okwei-Noi, a former SRC vice president for 2003 and 2004.

A statement signed by Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Kwadwo Asenso-Okyere said the sanction against him was as a result of an allegation of attempted bribery and bribery.

The statement said a committee was set up to investigate the allegation against Mr Okwei-Noi for attempting to bribe an Academic Affairs Officer with five hundred thousand cedis (500,000 cedis) to influence the officer to stop pursuing a case in which a student had attempted to use a fake Identity Card to go through student registration process.

The committee found the allegation to be true, the statement said. The statement said the “Vice-Chancellor expressed disappointment that a key member of the student leadership could involve, himself in such an act to tarnish the image of the University.
