Former PNC Candidate throws weight behind NPP

Kumasi, April 19, GNA- The Election 2004 parliamentary candidate of the People’s National Convention (PNC), for Asawase, Mr Thomas Atigah has thrown his weight behind the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the constituency bye-election on April 21.

Announcing this is a press statement; Mr Atigah called on his supporters to vote for the NPP candidate, Alhaji S. M. Shariff. “If people in the Constituency genuinely want development then the obvious choice should be Alhaji Shariff,” the statement said. It said it was not prudent for anyone to compete with the NPP because the PNC had been working closely with the ruling party in Parliament.

Alhaji Shariff is contesting the seat with Alhaji Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak of the National Democratic Congress and Mr Ibrahim Mohammed Issaka of the PNC.

The bye-election followed the death of the incumbent Member of Parliament, Dr Gibril Adamu last February.
