Ajumako (C/R), April 30, GNA – Mr Albert Ato Quainoo, 47, was on Saturday elected to contest the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam parliamentary seat on the ticket of New Patriotic Party (NPP) in 2012. Mr Quainoo, an educationist and former Presiding Member of the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District Assembly, polled 284 votes out of 569 votes cast to beat three other contestants.
Mr Romeo Aboagye, 36, a banker polled 133 votes, Mr John Kobina Amissah, 45, administrator at the Ghana Police Service, had 124 votes and Mr James Appiah Mensah, 51, a teacher, had 28 votes. The Electoral College made up of 618 delegates of which 49 of them were absent, took part in the election supervised by the District Electoral Officer, Mr Fiifi Caiquo.
The three other constants expressed satisfaction with the results, and promised to support the winner to unseat the incumbent National Democratic Congress Member of Parliament, Mr Ato Forson. The NPP Constituency Chairman, Mr King Obuobi, called on party members to unite and campaign well to bring return NPP to power in 2011.
Mr Ato Quainoo praised his challengers and party delegates for conducting themselves peacefully during the polls.
