Former Minister Urges Women To Avoid Negative Tendencies

Kumasi, Aug. 17, – Colonel E. M. Osei-Owusu (rtd) former Minister of the Interior, has called on women in the Civil Service to avoid negative tendencies that militate against efficiency in the service. He said as holders of sensitive positions in the government, they should aim at increased productivity and eliminate all forms of waste in the system. Col Osei-Owusu was speaking as Guest of Honour at the 10th anniversary celebration of the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council Ladies’ Club at the weekend. The theme for the occasion was: “women – an important factor in the public service”. Colonel Osei-Owusu who was the Ashanti Regional Secretary when the Club was formed in 1987, said the high stake women have in the survival of the service and other public services should be matched by their renewed attitudes towards their given tasks. He advised the club’s executive to exhibit good leadership qualities, ensure transparency in their administration and work as a team. Mr Daniel Ohene Agyekum, Ashanti Regional Minister commended the ladies for coming together not only to ensure improvement in the service but to work together in peace and harmony. He said the Regional Coordinating Council would continue to support them to achieve their objectives in order to bring efficiency to the region and the nation as a whole.
