Former IPS Director passes away

The death is reported of the former Director of the Institute of Professional Service (IPS), Mr. John Benedict Buamah, aged 72, after a short illness. The late Buamah?s was the director of the Institute from 1980 to 1993 when he retired from active service.

His tenure as director saw the restructuring and reorganization of the Institute?s administrative machinery to its present set up. He is credited to have raised the status of the Institute to a tertiary level with the help of the then Secretary for Education, Ms Joyce Aryee.

He also worked in the Inspectorate Division of the Ghana Education Service as an Inspecting Accountant and Inspector of Business Education from 1969 to 1980 before being transferred to IPS.

Mr. Buamah, a trained teacher, also hold a degree in Business Administration from the University of Ghana, Legon and a Masters Degree in Business Education from the St Francis Xavier University, Nova Scotia, Canada.

He is particularly remembered for his ardent love for the Institute as he served it with all of his heart and resources. The final funeral rites of the Late John Benedict Buamah will be performed at grounds of the Institute of Professional Studies (IPS) on Saturday 13th May 2006
