Former Ghanaian Times Editor-in-Chief T.D. Baffoe is dead

Accra, Dec. 14, GNA – Mr T. D. Baffoe, Former Editor-in-Chief of the Ghanaian Times and Former President of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) is dead. A family spokesman told the Ghana News Agency that Mr Baffoe died on Wednesday at the 37 Military Hospital where he had been on admission. He was 75.

Mr Baffoe was Editor-in-Chief of the Ghanaian Times from April 1960 until the February 24, 1966 coup that toppled the Government of Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah. His contribution to the nationalist struggle for independence saw him being appointed a member of the Central Committee of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) in 1961. At that time, he was the youngest Central Committee member.

Mr Baffoe was President of the Ghana Journalists Association in 1964. Later in his life, he also served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the New Times Corporation. Mr Kofi Baffoe, Systems Manager of the Ghana News Agency, is one of the four surviving children. The Spokesman said funeral arrangements would be announced later.
