Former pilots of Ghana Airways are considering other options after they failed to secure a good deal from negotiations for their severance package.
Unlike other workers of the liquidated national carrier who went to court after the initial negotiations broke down, the pilots chose to go through the entire negotiation process. But the pilots say they’ve been handed a raw deal.
Francis Davor, the General Secretary of the Union of Industries, Commerce and Financial Workers UNICOF, which has been negotiating on behalf of the pilots told JOYFM that the talks broke down before they got to the arbitration stage because the liquidator of Ghana Airways insisted that severance was going to be treated as an unsecured loan.
Mr Davor explained that the severance package could not be treated as unsecured loan because negotiations for the package started before government announced its intention to liquidate Ghana Airways.
Meanwhile the other workers of the airline who went to court earlier are still in court.
