Former DCE attacked at home by masked robbers

Techiman (B/A) Jan. 17, GNA – Masked armed robbers struck the home of Mr Isaac Osei-Antwi, former Techiman Municipal Chief Executive in Techiman and made away with personal belongings and cash 20 million cedis.

The robbers detained the former chief executive and members of his family in a toilet and emptied the house of items including two mobile phones, six half pieces of wax prints, three sewn cloths, 24 yards of lace material worth millions of cedis.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency Mr Osei-Antwi said the incident occurred at about 22 hours on Sunday while he was on the veranda praying as a usual practice before retiring to bed.

He said all of a sudden four masked persons armed with guns surrounded him and ordered him to stop praying as they had been sent to eliminate him if he failed to surrender his properties to them. Mr Osei-Antwi said he initially apologized to the robbers for not having anything at home but two other masked robbers joined the four and dragged him and members of his family into the toilet and locked them in.

He said for fear for their lives the family spent one hour in the toilet to make sure that the robbers had left before they broke the door and came out.

The robbers also attacked two watchmen at a near-by Allied Oil filling station, seized a gun from one of the watchmen on duty and shot the other, Akwasi Blackie in the stomach. Blackie who is in critical condition is on admission at the Holy Family Hospital in Techiman. The incident was reported to the police who have not yet made any arrest.
