Former DCE appeals to NPP members to stop infighting

Kormantse (C/R), May 12, GNA – The former Municipal Chief Executive for Mfantseman, Mr Robert Quainoo-Arthur, has appealed to supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to stop the infighting and to unite and prepare for the 2012 election.

He said accusations and counter accusations stretching to insults would not do the party any good but would weaken NPP’s front as well as its resolve to reclaim power from the National Democratic Congress (NDC). Speaking to the GNA in an interview, Mr Quainoo-Arthur suggested to the contestants for flagbearership of the party to shield their ambitions for now and rally behind Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. He said he based his suggestion on the good performance of Nana Akufo-Addo in the 2008 election and also for the fact that he is the most senior among the contestants and had contributed a lot to the growth of the party.

Mr Quainoo-Arthur said like a family, when the position for the headship becomes vacant, consideration is given to the most elderly person. “When Nana Akufo-Addo, who has been widely marketed is given the chance, the party can start preparing Mr Alan Kyeremanten for the 2020 general election.

Mr Quainoo-Arthur said Ghanaians are yearning for the return of the NPP to power and they would not forgive the party if it is unable to organise well for the 2012 election. “The people are desperate due to the abysmal performance of Mills-led government that has made life unbearable for them,” he said.
